The Society of Metrologists from Serbia — a public organisation founded in 1998 and a proud member of IMEKO since 2008 — recently held its annual Congress of Metrologists 2024. The event took place in the scenic town of Palić, near Subotica, and attracted numerous participants from diverse institutions, faculties, and laboratories.
The Society of Metrologists, committed to advancing metrology, brings together professionals and experts to foster innovation and professional development. This year’s congress focused on the latest trends and advancements in metrology. A wide array of topics was covered, demonstrating how metrologists are not only keeping pace with global trends but are also analysing local environmental changes and challenges.
Nikon Metrology’s Cutting-Edge Solutions
A key event highlight was the presentation by Nikon Metrology, which demonstrated their latest cutting-edge solutions. Martin Plechinger, NEXIV Business Development Manager, showcased how video measuring systems can streamline the measuring process, reducing physical effort while increasing efficiency. By embracing this technology, metrologists can save time, allowing for extended opportunities for professional development.
A Key Focus on Environmental Impact
While topics such as electric cars and artificial intelligence (AI) were popular during the congress, there was a strong emphasis on the importance of metrology in protecting the environment. The organisers also highlighted the need for research and development in measurement methods that safeguard the environment. “By protecting them, we also protect ourselves,” the speaker noted.
The Congress of Metrologists 2024 was a resounding success, and participants left with valuable insights, fresh industry knowledge, and a strengthened network of professional contacts.
