MCAx S is a 7-axis, articulated arm, portable CMM from Nikon able to measure parts accurately and with ease using a touch probe and the ModelMaker H120 non-contact, 3D laser scanner.

MCAx S arms range in size from 2.0 to 4.5 m and are supplied in three performance levels (S, S+ & S++), allowing the user to choose an optimal system configuration.

Infinite rotation and 7-axis freedom of movement give unrestricted reach in and around parts of any size. Portability allows metrology in almost any environment.

Core Features

Intelligent Multi-Probing

A large range of contact probes as well as touch-trigger probes is available for tactile versatility. Simultaneous probe and scanner mounting gives optimal clearance for both. Automatic recognition, pre-selection and switching enhances productivity.

Mounting Versatility

The integrated 3.5 in x 8 adapter provides a secure installation within seconds. Use bolt-down, magnetic or vacuum bases for table mounting, or portable tripods and heavy duty stands on the shop floor.

Instant Precision

Switch on and start measuring immediately. Absolute encoders remove the need to reference every axis. Simple connection with plug and play Ethernet or Wi-Fi connectivity. Carbon fiber construction offers temperature stability and long-term mechanical strength.

Wireless Connectivity

With the wireless option, high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity and dual hot-swappable batteries augment the system with true cable-free usage. Scan wirelessly for up to 4 hours using the ModelMaker H120 with no reduction in data speed or quality.

Mobile Convenience

Incorporating all the elements needed for table set up, measurement and accuracy verification, the precision foam inside the wheeled flight case offers optimal protection to both the MCAx S arm and ModelMaker H120 scanner.

User Feedback

Bluetooth® external audio connectivity along with integrated visual, audio and haptic indicators give clear system feedback. An integrated wrist screen enables users to easily monitor status and invoke tasks without touching the PC.

Designed for Safe and Stress-Free Handling

The integrated floating counterbalance gives freedom of movement without user fatigue while low resistance rotating grips help reduce inertia. Confidence in safety is paramount as all arms feature secure locking and wrist docking.

ISO 10360-12 Certified Accuracy

Precision is defined by arm probing accuracy certified to the comprehensive ISO 10360-12 standard to meet modern industry expectations. Each system is provided with artifacts for interim user verification to confirm measurement confidence.
