We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Sales Account Manager Microscopy based in Germany and more specific to cover Southern Germany.

What is your role?

The role of the Sales Account Manager Microscopy is to promote and sell industrial products currently available from Nikon Metrology’s product range to customers within the territory or as directed by management.

What are your key areas of responsibility?

  • To achieve annual sales target
  • To actively pursue business by prospecting for new customers/ accounts, following up enquiries within the designated territory
  • Maintain a territory plan, which outlines the sales strategy specific to that territory including actions and timings.
  • To make positive recommendations about ways in which the business can be improved or opportunities gained, for the benefit of Nikon Metrology and its customers
  • Provide consultation and guidance regarding customers’ applications, ensuring the correct products are provided to meet needs and exceed expectations in line with Nikon Metrology aspirations.
  • Produce accurate quotations as requested, ensuring that the specification meets the customer’s needs.  All quotations should be saved to the CRM system for easy retrieval by Nikon Metrology personnel as and when required.
  • Use the CRM system to maintain a professional, courteous and efficient relationship with customers such that all interactions are followed up within 24-48 hours.
  • Manage the sales cycle and buying processes to conclusion and use the CRM system to assist with this and maintain records.
  • Provide product demonstrations when and where necessary to assist the customer’s decision-making process to purchase from Nikon Metrology. Adhere to in-house rules regarding demonstration protocols, personal demo stock and use of the 2D group demo equipment.
  • Support exhibition activity, attending shows as well as product preparation and stand set-up.
  • Provide a concise monthly report on the first working day of each month, giving details of key indicators – visits / demos / quotes / orders as well as market feedback and any new competitor information.

What are your required qualifications and competencies?

Essential

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree or PhD desired.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of successful scientific instrument sales experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in microscopy, imaging, analytical instrumentation or related capital equipment sales.
  • Demonstrated success managing large territories and complex sales cycles.
  • Experience selling into research, academic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, semiconductor, or industrial environments.
  • Previous team leadership or sales management experience an advantage.
  • Proficient in German and English.

Technical Knowledge

Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Optical or Digital Microscopy
  • Optical Components
  • Automated Inspection
  • Optical Contrast Methods
  • Scientific Software Applications

Functional Competences

  • Computer literate with experience of working with databases, email and the ‘Web’
  • Experience in selling microscopes, metrology and software packages.
  • Result driven
  • Strong organizational skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Hands-on manager
  • Ability to travel
