Today we speak to Christophe Thubert, Sales Account Manager for the NEXIV range for France within the Microscopy Business Unit Europe, about his responsibilities and his expertise on the NEXIV Video Measuring Systems.
- Could you please tell us your responsibilities within Nikon Metrology?
I oversee the sales of the NEXIV Video Measuring Systems for French territory as part of the NEXIV Group within the Microscopy Business Unit Europe. I focus on identifying and developing new business opportunities for the French market. Additionally, I manage and grow existing customer accounts in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, and semiconductors.

- What are the best parts of your job?
My job is very exciting! My favourite part is finding the best solution for our customers. We’re fortunate to offer unbeatable value for money, and the experience of our amazing team of application engineers often makes all the difference in supporting our customers. Ultimately, my role is to connect the right people and I like this kind of relationships and challenges.
- Any anecdote that you would like to share with our readers?
I remember a customer who had a very difficult application, and on paper, it seemed impossible to provide a satisfactory solution. This customer, knowing the quality of Nikon optics, nevertheless agreed to visit our showroom. We used one of their samples on the full NEXIV product range in one day and it allowed us to find the solution the customer was looking for.
In the end, what might have seemed like a waste of time was beneficial for the customer, because coming to the showroom for one day saved several weeks of investigation, and even months of testing, emails, questions & answers, doubts and of course shipping parts back and forth.
In our showroom, the machines are temperature-stable, precise, and calibrated. Our customers can be sure that the measurement results will be correct. Furthermore, the teaching files are important and can be sent after the installation and training is completed. This ensures the highest quality of results, which cannot be achieved by taking a system to a customer site for an application test.
- You travel to many customer sites. What are the main benefits customers experience from using the NEXIV?
In my opinion, it’s the whole system. Nikon’s NEXIV is part of a large product group that has managed to maintain all the advantages of a service provided by the best craftsmen.
From listening to the customer, to finding solutions for them, with the quality of service and our responsiveness, the customers feel valued, heard, and understood. We have the best intentions for each of them, and Nikon’s attention and values often make the difference.

- What sectors and industries can benefit from using it?
In France, the main sectors using our systems are EV battery manufacturers. We also have customers from the semiconductor and electronics industries.
- As a Nikon Metrology Sales Account Manager, what is your favourite system feature of the NEXIV and why?
Within the NEXIV range, each system has its own unique features. It’s difficult to answer this question or make a choice because my preferred machine is the one that best meets our customers’ needs.
There are, however, a few common and specific features to our full range of NEXIV systems that, for me, make the difference: The exceptional quality of our lenses and optics, the ease of use of our software, and the fact that we have complete control over the production of our machines, as everything including the software is developed and manufactured by Nikon in Japan.
