Nikon Laser Scanners to be retrofitted by MSL

Nikon Metrology UK and MSL announce their new partnership and mutual approach in providing 3D Laser Scanning solutions within the UK.

The Industrial Metrology Business Unit of the global Nikon Corporation has entered into a new partnership agreement with Peterborough-based Measurement Solutions Ltd (MSL), which will now sell and retrofit Nikon’s automated 3D laser scanning solutions in the UK market. The class-leading scanners enable rapid digitisation of parts by optically capturing millions of high-precision points. Inspection time is reduced, and the non-contact technology offers greater insight for applications such as dimensional metrology and reverse engineering.

The Nikon Metrology and MSL partnership brings together two companies sharing a single goal of offering unparalleled metrology technology and support to deliver the most appropriate solution for practically any application. With more than 25 years’ experience in 3D metrology and providing a professional service to customers, MSL has a deep knowledge of the metrology business. It therefore brings a wealth of engineering experience, combining tools and software from leading manufacturers such as Nikon to create integrated systems for organisational workflows across many applications in a diverse range of sectors. A consequence of the new agreement is that MSL will be able to provide retrofits alongside Metrolog X4 and Silma X4 software by utilising Metrolog’s universal CMM controller and the latest Renishaw 5-axis measurement technology.

Callum Williams-York, Nikon’s European Account Manager for the Laser Scanner Business Unit said, “Working in the UK metrology market, I have always been aware of the professional service MSL provides. We are very excited to start this relationship with the company and its team, as they have the technical and commercial expertise to supply the UK’s CMM market with highly professional retrofits of our laser scanners.”

Robert Greenbank, Industrial Metrology and Services Manager at MSL responded, “The chance to work with Nikon’s Industrial Metrology Business Unit was an obvious one for our Industrial Metrology division. We believe that this leading manufacturer of metrology and quality control equipment almost certainly has the best laser scanners on the market for CMMs today”. He added “A key focus for MSL Industrial Metrology this year is to increase the number of retrofits we provide. The aim of our division is to assist customers, protect them from obsolescence, accelerate their quality inspection and increase their throughput. With our ability to provide Nikon laser scanning solutions, we can now really move this forward.”
