Productive, Flexible, Precise
Designed for portability, automation, speed, and accuracy, the MV5X uses revolutionary solid‑state electronics combined with Nikon’s extensive expertise in optics and Laser Radar technology to deliver a groundbreaking metrology system.
Measure detail at distance, without the need for handheld probes, targets or surface preparation. Automate repetitive inspection tasks throughout a comprehensive range of manufacturing, industrial and research applications, including: hard to reach, complex, and delicate features.

Portable or Integrated

Extra Productivity
Fast scanning and efficient measurement significantly reduce inspection times compared with traditional metrology techniques.
Extra Flexibility

Extra Precision
Precise beam control and high accuracy ensure efficient measurement performance without compromising quality.
Benefits
Reduce Measurement Times
The MV5X Laser Radar provides automated and semi-automated non-contact portable measurements reducing setup and measurement times, minimising production downtime and maximising efficiency.
Optimise Your Process Earlier
The MV5X delivers fast and accurate measurements right from installation, enabling improved process control and optimisation—even during ramp‑up phases.
Reduce Scrap, Waste And Rework
Reliable measurements help identify issues earlier, improve quality control, and provide feedback and feedforward data to continuously optimise the manufacturing process.
Maintain Consistency
Use the same device inline, offline or directly on the shop floor for consistent results across all stages of production.

Industry Applications
The Nikon Laser Radar is already used widely in the automotive industry, with the MV5X building on that experience. Covering applications such as, incoming component inspection, tooling/fixture inspection, metrology room detailed measurements, BiW inline inspection, stud placement feedback, BiW or VoW gap and flush, production line alignment and setup.

Used across many areas of aerospace manufacturing, the Nikon Laser Radar is ideally suited to the large volume and high accuracy requirements. Covering applications such as, engine cowl and nacelle inspection, wing to body join, fuselage layup inspection, fuselage join determination, wing skin layup inspection and control, wing rib and stringer placement measurement, wing flap hinge-line control.

The large volume, non-contact and accurate measurements of the MV5X, as well as its portability make it ideal for use in renewable energy manufacturing. Covering applications such as, wind turbine nacelle inspection, wind turbine blade inspection, solar array alignment, and solar reflector measurement and alignment.

Measuring delicate and highly reflective surfaces such as those used in satellite antennae is easily achieved with the Nikon Laser Radar. Covering applications such as, reflector array inspection and alignment, solar array inspection and alignment, and radio telescope dish inspection.

Whether measuring inline or offline, fully or semi automated, the MV5X can be used across a wide range of manufacturing applications to ensure process and quality control of medium to large sized parts especially those which are difficult to measure using traditional measurement technology. Covering applications such as, sheet metal inspection, composite layup inspection, casting inspection and many more.

FAQs
The MV5X utilises state of the art solid state electronics and NIKKOR optics to shrink the technology whilst maintaining the high accuracy and performance that the Laser Radar is known for.
The MV5X can be used in a wide range of industrial environments with IP54 rating and a temperature range of 5°C to 50°C, it is equally at home in a metrology room or on a shop floor.
The MV5X only needs a fraction of the transmitted energy reflected back to the system, therefore even highly reflective surfaces can be measured without any coatings or preparation.
Yes, the MV5X is designed to be used in any orientation whether mounted statically, on a robot or on a rail. This allows for great flexibility of installation and improved feature visibility.
Through the use of heterodyne interferometry, non-contact, accurate measurement of almost any surface is possible, and the surface temperature of the object is not a problem either, allowing for safe measurements of hot or cold objects from a distance.
