Step-by-step Scanning and Inspection Workflow

Whether inspecting a measured part to a nominal CAD model or to a polygonal mesh, or even another scan, the simple workflow and intuitive task-based UI of Focus steps the user through the entire task sequentially.

Import CAD and Define the Inspection

Import nominal part and assembly data via IGES, STEP, STL or native translators for all major CAD packages. Easily define features, comparison points, profiles, calipers, dimensions and comprehensive GD&T for subsequent analysis of measured data.

Part Alignment

Ensure measured data conforms to the datuming scheme of the nominal part through precise and robust alignment and transformation tools, including feature-based Reference Point System (RPS), 3-2-1 alignment, N-point, 3D best-fit and 2D sectional best-fit.

Freeform and Prismatic Scan Data Analysis

Focus comparison tools provide in-depth insight into part deviations. Dimensionally analyse part-to-CAD or part-to-part quality using easy-to-interpret 3D colour maps, comprehensive point cloud and feature-based GD&T, or look even closer with sectional and part edge comparison.

Point Cloud and Mesh Processing

Alongside a rich point cloud toolset, Nikon's proprietary FUSE algorithm quickly produces incredibly detailed and accurate yet smooth meshes. Additionally, a wide range of advanced extraction and construction tools gives class-leading feature fitting accuracy and repeatability.
