Although the main focus of this position is in Germany and we are looking for a German-based native speaker, you will be part of an international team and should thrive working with different cultures, mindsets & backgrounds. English is our team’s daily language and has to be mastered fluently.

The “Project Engineer” is responsible integration of Nikon’s Laser Radar solutions within the EMEA region.

You will be a technical expert for the Laser Radar product line and will be part of our project team. Ensuring excellent project performance is the most important aspect of this job. It ranges from planning, installation, training, to customer support and project documentation. You will work very closely with the sales and customers’ teams to understand the full project scope and provide all activities to ensure the project is delivered on time and with the highest quality.

 

Key areas of responsibility

  • Strong technical support for sales and applications teams.
  • Proposing technical solutions as a Nikon system specialist.
  • Project’s timeline and budget responsibility and each project phase.
  • Nikon’s representative to the customer during the project.
  • Define customer requirements and agree on deliverables at project kick off.
  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical setup of metrology cells.
  • Support installation of mechanical/electrical hardware of integrated project.
  • Comply with local safety requirements.
  • Coordinate own time to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Regular reporting to management on projects status.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Raise issues with management in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with customer / on-site engineers / integrators to ensure project is on plan.
  • Support customer validation and buy off procedures onsite for all applications.
  • Provide training to customer on application functionality.
  • Ability to travel 70% of the time to customer facility.
  • Travel will be predominantly within the EU, but some overseas travel required.

 

 FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCES

  • Technical degree or higher beneficial
  • Metrology experience
  • Automotive or aerospace experience
  • Responsible and initiative
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Strong communication abilities as well as listening skills
  • Structured and organized
  • High adaptability
  • Strong team player
  • Fluent in German & English

Special Experience

  • Knowledge and practical experience of metrology, robotics and automation
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD/robot simulation beneficial
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • MS Office experience including MS Project
  • High degree of IT literacy
  • Full driving license
  • Understanding in French beneficial
